The newest update for Lenovo’s Legion 9i is packed with performance to the brim – announced at Lenovo Tech World in Shanghai, this new flagship gaming laptop features Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, up to 192GB DDR5 RAM, and a whopping four SSD slots available onboard. Talk about being the desktop replacement.
Lenovo Legion 9i (10th Gen)
The crown jewel of this laptop arguably is the 18-inch PureSight display with two variants: the first is your relatively bog-standard 4K+ (3840 x 2400) 240Hz LCD panel with 540 nits brightness and VESA DisplayHDR 400 support; meanwhile, the second option shares the same display characteristics as the first, but it has a glasses-free 3D mode that drops the effective resolution to FHD+ 440Hz.
It’s also worth noting while the laptop supports up to 192GB of DDR5 RAM, the speed will be limited to 4000MT/s as a result of all 4 slots being populated; for gaming-oriented configurations, the laptop also has a dual-channel 64GB DDR5 at 5200MT/s. (Oddly, there’s also a single-channel 32GB option, which is a big no-no if you want performance.) Like a desktop PC, the Legion 9i has a primary PCIe 5.0 SSD slot accompanied by three additional SSD slots running at PCIe 4.0 speeds.
The laptop’s cooling system (dubbed Legion Coldfront: Vapor) comes with hyperbaric vapor chamber and quad-fan design that, on top of CPU and GPU, provides cooling for additional components like Wi-Fi card, RAM, and SSD – Lenovo claims noise levels are kept under 48dB during high-performance mode (at 280W combined power). As before, the laptop’s top cover is constructed from forged carbon with unique patterns for every single unit produced.
Besides the laptop, Lenovo is also co-launching the Legion 18″ Armored Backpack II featuring EVA molded front shield, double-layered protection for the PC compartment, as well as dedicated pockets for peripherals. Both the laptop and the backpack is yet to be available at this time, with no pricing information announced.
