HONOR today announced the launch of the HONOR Magic V5 in Malaysia, following the early reveal for media personnel earlier this month. The new foldable smartphone is now available to pre-order until 24 July 2025.

The HONOR Magic V5 is currently the slimmest foldable phone in the world, with its folded thickness of 8.8mm beating the recently-unveiled Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 by just 0.1mm; when unfolded, the thickness measures just 4.1mm, while the total device weight is listed as 217 grams, which is in the same ballpark as traditional candybar flagship smartphones. (Side note: these figures only apply to the Ivory White variant – other color options add 0.2mm of folded thickness and 5 grams of additional weight.)
Despite its thinness, the device still packs a combined 5820mAh of battery capacity, which is paired with HONOR’s E2 chip for improved power efficiency and thermal management (it also supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging capabilities). It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC alongside 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage as its sole configuration in the local market.
The outer screen is a 6.43-inch LTPO OLED panel, while the inner screen is of the same kind that measures 7.95 inches and shares the same display specs, such as 120Hz refresh rate, 4320Hz PWM dimming, 5000 nits peak brightness, and stylus support. HONOR also claims it uses aerospace-grade special fiber casing for its chassis, a non-Newtonian fluid layer cushioning impacts on the inner screen, NanoCrystal Shield on the outer display, and upgraded hinge rated for 500,000 folding cycles. The phone also holds IP58 and IP59 ratings for water and dust resistance.
Regarding cameras, the HONOR Magic V5 is equipped with a 64MP periscope telephoto camera capable of up to 100x zoom, along with a 50MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide camera, and two 20MP front-facing cameras, one for each screen. The device includes AI imaging tools such as AI Super Zoom, AI Enhanced Portrait, and AI Motion Sensing Capture, as well as AI-powered editing features including Outpainting, Eraser, Cutout, Upscale, and Live Photo.
For software, the Magic V5 features a new Three Split Screen interface, along with several new AI-enhanced features like AI Notes and AI Summaries; it also brings the updated HONOR Share feature that allows file sharing on iOS and macOS devices (which have been infamously difficult to do before this). It’ll run on MagicOS 9.0.1 based on Android 15 out of the box, with 7 years of OS and security updates to be expected.
The HONOR Magic V5 is available in Dawn Gold, Ivory White, Silk Brown, and Black, while maintaining the same retail price of RM6,999 as its predecessor. Pre-orders are available until 24 July 2025 with a promotional gift bundle valued at RM3,497; customers trading in eligible devices can receive additional rebates.
