CelcomDigi has launched a new AI-powered security app called MobileSHIELD, developed in collaboration with Finnish cybersecurity company F-Secure. Per its press release, this app is designed to protect users against digital threats including scams, malware, identity theft, and privacy breaches.
CelcomDigi MobileSHIELD App
MobileSHIELD’s security functions are split into several categories: the first is Scam & Security protection, which cover browser protection (Chrome or Safari), banking/shopping protection, SMS protection (iOS only), Wi-Fi protection (Android only), and general device protection that vary in features depending on your smartphone’s operating system – in Android’s case, this actively blocks harmful apps from running, while the iOS counterpart is mostly redundant, since all it can do in this regard is remind user of a new iOS update, or set a screen lock.
Other categories include Identity Protection, consists of Identity Monitoring (which checks the web for leaked personal information) and Password Vault (essentially a password manager), while the Privacy Protection category offers a Privacy VPN that hides the user’s IP address online, which is especially useful while connecting public Wi-Fis. Keep in mind that the app only supports Android 10 or iOS 17 and above, and you can read the details in this FAQ article.
Existing CelcomDigi customers can pay for MobileSHIELD subscription in two ways: a RM10/month subscription fee which can be cancelled anytime, or a RM4/month option subjected to a 12-month contract. Purchases can be done on either the Celcom Life app or MyDigi app under the ‘Add-Ons’ section – customers who subscribe between 7 August and 18 September 2025 will receive a one-month free trial. Do note that subscriptions will auto-renew, so make sure to opt-out manually if you intend to stop using the service.
Pokdepinion: Didn’t expect a security app coming from a telco provider, but I welcome that.
