TP-Link Malaysia has officially launched Wi-Fi 8 technology in the country, marking its first Wi-Fi 8 launch in the Asia Pacific region. During the launch at TP-Link APAC B2B Summit 2026, TP-Link showcased its Archer 8 Ultra router and Deco 8 Ultra mesh Wi-Fi system, along with an early look at its upcoming Omada Wi-Fi 8 platform aimed at the business networking segment.
Wi-Fi 8 & TP-Link StabilityEngine
Wi-Fi 8 is built on the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard and is designed around what TP-Link calls its Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine, a system intended to strengthen coverage, manage network congestion and reduce interference, helping maintain consistent connections even as more devices compete for network access.
TP-Link said unreliable Wi-Fi has become a significant operational issue, disrupting video conferencing, slowing access to cloud-based systems and affecting productivity and customer experience across settings such as hospitals, hotels and retail environments. Not ideal if your work is mission-critical – and as the country’s MD2030 plans will be putting even more demands on the network infrastructure, Wi-Fi 8 is intended to be the answer for that.
Once commercially available, Wi-Fi 8 is expected to offer steadier coverage across large, crowded or multi-floor premises, stronger connections for devices located further from access points, and improved performance during periods of peak network traffic.
Beyond Wi-Fi 8, the company is also expanding into unified network and surveillance management through its new Fusion Pro Series, which combines networking and security infrastructure into a single platform for business use.
The company also announced plans to establish the Omada-VIGI AI Application Developer Alliance, bringing together AI companies, independent developers and technology partners to integrate TP-Link’s networking and surveillance technologies with partner-developed AI applications. It said the initiative is intended to simplify the development and deployment of AI-powered solutions in settings such as smart classrooms, retail spaces, factories and hospitality venues.
To support Malaysia’s growing demand for networking skills, TP-Link has also signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with three Malaysian universities to introduce Omada networking courses and hands-on training, aimed at building technical capabilities for increasingly connected and AI-enabled environments.
Pokdepinion: I’ll have to see it to believe it – Wi-Fi 7 hasn’t been known to be particularly reliable last time I checked.
