At IFA 2024, Lenovo introduced its latest Yoga and IdeaPad devices at its Innovation World 2024 event, which includes several new models featuring processors including Intel’s new Core Ultra 200V series (Lunar Lake), AMD Ryzen AI 300 series (Strix Point), and Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X Plus series.
New Lenovo Yoga & IdeaPad Lineup

Starting with the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition – this 15-inch laptop, powered by Intel Core Ultra 200V processors, also features the same Smart Modes found in the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition, which can enable certain system functions based on the mode you choose. Take “Attention Mode” for example, this allows users to block distracting websites so they can focus on the task at hand, and “Shield Mode” prompts user to turn on VPN to enable better security.

There’s also the Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 which comes in AMD flavors, specifically the new AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor with 4+6 cores on tap. This laptop comes with two “X Power” features called Software Accelerate and Hardware Boost – the latter is pretty straightforward as a power management to keep thermals in check, whereas the former is pretty vague in its messaging. This feature apparently “drastically speeds up software previews, rendering, and exports,” though it didn’t explain how.

Moving on to the IdeaPad lineup, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5x and IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1 are both powered by Snapdragon X Plus 8-core processors paired with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 1TB SSD (in the less common M.2 2242 form factor). Additionally, the IdeaPad Slim 5 series is now available in 15- and 13-inch variants, both powered by AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors.

Lenovo also showcased the Lenovo Creator Zone app, which is essentially generative AI-powered image editor that allows images to be generated via text prompts, sketches, or reference images (think of it as something similar to ASUS’s MuseTree). The feature will be rolling out for Yoga Pro 9i starting this October, with other Yoga devices to follow.
The new devices are expected to be available starting from September 2024, with prices beginning at RM3,599 for the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 15-inch, RM4,599 for the IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1, RM4,999 for the IdeaPad Slim 5x, and RM7,499 for both AMD and Intel Yoga models. Only the AMD Yoga Pro 7 is now available for purchase, with other models to follow starting this month.
Pokdepinion: Smart Modes is definitely an interesting approach in switching usage profiles.
