Staying true to its established branding, the new model brings notable improvements that align with today’s user demands. With a significantly refreshed design, HONOR is clearly aiming for a more modern and premium look this time around. This first-look article focuses on the device’s design and main camera system.
HONOR 400 Pro: Design and Finish
The HONOR 400 Pro isn’t afraid to flex its 200MP camera branding on the rear module. It houses three main cameras and an LED flash nestled between sensors. It also features curved edges on both the display and back panel, though it stops short of a full waterfall display. It also has a thicker frame, offering a feel reminiscent of the latest HONOR Magic series.
Despite the ergonomic grip offered by it, they are heavier and thicker than its 200 series counterpart. Apart from that, it also features a matte finish that has been resistant to fingerprint smudges, based on our own experience, but the camera housing is still rather susceptible to it. If a protective case isn’t ideal for you, you can always for a lens protector instead.
In terms of layout, the HONOR 400 Pro retains the familiar design language seen the brand’s other offerings. The power and volume buttons are positioned ergonomically on the right, while the left side remains clean. At the top, you’ll find the infrared sensor and a microphone hole. The bottom houses a stereo speaker setup, a USB-C port, and a SIM card slot. It also has stereo speakers and dual biometric security options consisting of an under-display, optical fingerprint scanner and facial recognition for added security.
Camera System and AI Features
The HONOR 400 Pro comes equipped with a 200MP main camera, featuring both OIS and EIS support along with a 1/1.4-inch sensor. This setup is expected to deliver high-quality images, even in low-light conditions. It also includes a 50MP telephoto lens capable of 5X to 50X zoom for enhanced long-distance photography. Additionally, a 12MP ultra-wide and macro lens covers scenic shots with impressive detail.
For selfies, the Pro variant sports a 50MP front camera supported by an upgraded portrait algorithm, producing natural and detailed results. The standard HONOR 400 also features a 200MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens but lacks the 50MP telephoto option.
AI-Powered Editing Tools
The HONOR 400 series introduces several AI-powered editing tools designed to enhance user creativity without 3rd-party apps. Chief among these is the AI Image to Video feature, developed in collaboration with Google Cloud. This tool transforms static photos into 5-second animated MP4 clips and is available directly within the Gallery app.
With AI Image to Video, users can animate backgrounds or even generate new ones using AI Cutout to isolate subjects and AI to Image to generate custom backdrops. Once created, animations can be customized with AI Edit, offering tools like Text Effects, Music, Filters, and pre-built templates—similar to what’s available in apps like CapCut.
Additional AI tools include:
- AI Eraser 2.0: Remove unwanted objects from photos.
- AI Cutout: Separate subjects from the background.
- AI OutPainting: Expand images by intelligently filling empty spaces.
- AI Upscale: Enhance resolution without sacrificing quality.
- Moving Photo Collage: Add animation effects for more engaging photos.
- Harcourt Studio 2.0: Create professional studio lighting effects digitally.
