HONOR has confirmed the launch of its HONOR 400 Series smartphones in Malaysia scheduled for 22 May 2025 – as one of the first markets to debut the devices, the Malaysian launch will introduce the brand’s latest AI innovations in mobile imaging, in particular focusing on the new AI Image to Video feature developed in collaboration with Google Cloud AI.
HONOR 400 Series: Imaging & AI

The entire imaging stack starts from the hardware: here, the HONOR 400 Series is equipped with a 200MP main camera housing a 1/1.4-inch sensor coupled with OIS/EIS; for the HONOR 400 Pro, it’ll also feature a 50MP telephoto shooter with up to 50x digital zoom, while the standard model supports up to 30x zoom – both will use AI to sharpen the zoomed images. On the front, both devices offer a 50MP selfie camera, with additional macro and wide-angle capabilities delivered by a 12MP lens.
On the software side, one standout feature of the HONOR 400 lineup is the AI Image to Video tool, which allows users to generate short videos from static images directly within their gallery without third-party apps – this process involves uploading the image to Google Cloud AI servers, so any privacy implications regarding uploading imagery for AI processing applies here.
Additional AI features found in the smartphone include AI Eraser 2.0 for removing unwanted elements, AI Cutout for subject isolation and background replacement, AI Outpainting for image expansion, AI Upscale to improve clarity of older or low-resolution photos, and Moving Photo Collage for storytelling purposes. There’s also the Harcourt Studio 2.0 function which further refines portrait photography with background blur, edge detailing, and simulation filters.
Suffice to say, HONOR is putting a lot of attention on AI features this time around – if you like the features presented here, you can watch the official launch event set to be livestreamed on HONOR Malaysia’s Facebook page at 3PM on 22 May 2025 for more details.
Pokdepinion: While some features are admittedly a bit gimmicky, at least you have the option to use them should the need arise.
