HONOR Magic5 Pro Unboxing and First Impressions
We got our hands on the new HONOR Magic5 Pro but before we publish the review, have a taste of it with our unboxing and first impressions.
HONOR Magic5 Pro Unboxing
The HONOR Magic5 Pro comes in a simple black box with the model of the smartphone written on the top. There’s really nothing much to the box apart from it being standard sized rather than the slimmer ones you see in other flagships, and I’m sure you have a good idea why. Inside the box, you can find the following items:
- USB-C to USB-C cable
- 66W HONOR SuperCharge charging brick
- SIM ejector pin
- Quick Start Guide
- Warranty card
- Clear protective case
- The HONOR Magic5 Pro itself
A TP Protective Film will be pre-applied prior to phone being sold (in selected countries).
First Impressions
For our review unit, we received the Meadow Green colour option, which I feel is a tie with Glacier Blue for the best colour, but that’s subjective. Apart from the two colours, you can also get it in Black, Coral Purple, and Orange. Forget what everyone is saying and pick whichever suits your style best.
The device is made up of a metal and glass combination, with the rear having a more matte finish, which is great because it’s not a fingerprint magnet and it’s easier to grip. The star of the show here is the Eye of Muse design, supposedly inspired by the first image of the black hole at the center of the milky way. You also get some curved elements here which is being referred to as Gaudí curve, named after the architect Antoni Gaudí. As you can see, the Star Wheel camera system takes up a big chunk of space here.
Turn it over and you will see its eye-catching 6.81-inch OLED display with dynamic refresh rate up to 120Hz as well as a cutout for the selfie camera on the top-left corner, pill-shaped to accommodate two sensors. Due to the curvature of the display, it might feel a bit slippery to hold on its own but that is no longer a problem when you attach a protective case to it.
Just like the other recent flagship Android-based smartphones, the HONOR Magic5 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This means you can expect great power from it but whether its thermal system can maintain that performance is what we’re going to find out in the review.
