OnePlus Reportedly Developing Smartphone That Fully Charges in 15 Minutes
It appears that OnePlus is working on a brand new smartphone that can supposedly get fully charged really fast, in just 15 minutes. Here’s what you need.

The next OnePlus smartphone to launch this year is said to be capable of charging fully within 15 minutes. This is made possible thanks to a new SuperVOOC charging standard which makes use of 150W of power. In comparison, the OnePlus 10 Pro is capable of charging at up to 80W.
To put a clearer perspective for you, a dual-cell 4500mAh battery can fully charge within 15 minutes, but it can go up to 50% in just a mere 5 minutes. Apart from that, the use of the Battery Health Engine (BHE) system is said to be “double the battery lifespan”, though we’re uncertain how it actually works apart from monitoring the battery during a charge and discharge.
According to the people at OnePlus, it would typically take 800 charge cycles to reduce a battery’s health to 80%. With the new BHE system, it would be effectively increased to 1,600 cycles, which should be at least 4 years worth of use assuming you charge the smartphone on a daily basis.
Interestingly, OnePlus isn’t looking to settle for that as they are allegedly developing a 240W SuperVOOC charging standard, which would cut down that 15 minute charging period to 9 minutes. With that being said, the company will be including the 150W SuperVOOC charger, which is barely larger than the existing 65W one, inside the box so it’s not a separate purchase.
Pokdepinion: Personally, I don’t need a device that charges that quickly. However, I do not deny that it will be very handy in situations where I need to head out but my battery is running low. I’m still comfortable with the slower but more comfortable experience that wireless charging brings but to each their own.
