Xiaomi sub-brand POCO has expanded its Malaysian lineup with three new smartphones: the POCO F9 Ultra, POCO F9 Pro, and POCO X8. The F9 series targets the premium flagship segment with a focus on gaming performance, display quality and imaging, while the X8 is positioned as an endurance-focused mid-ranger built around battery life and durability.
POCO F9 Series: POCO F9 Ultra & POCO F9 Pro
The POCO F9 Ultra and F9 Pro are largely identical for the most part. For starters, both are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with a dedicated VisionBoost D8 chipset which handles various graphics enhancement and upscaling duties, such as resolution upscaling, frame generation, HDR effects, and more. The smartphone maker claims this enables framerates up to 185FPS, which is natively support across more than 20 titles, with five additional games reaching it through upscaling.
The devices also include a 4,800Hz instant touch sampling rate, 480Hz 10-point touch sampling rate, and a 200Hz gyro sampling rate, alongside a Game Color Enhancement tool for visual tuning. A 3D IceLoop cooling system is fitted across the lineup to manage thermals during extended gaming sessions. 12GB RAM is available as standard for the Pro model, whereas the Ultra model gets optional 16GB RAM as well as 1TB storage option.
Both smartphones use 185Hz POCO HyperRGB AMOLED displays – a 6.9-inch panel on the F9 Ultra and a 6.59-inch panel on the F9 Pro. The displays use a full RGB subpixel structure and a newly introduced M11 luminescent material, reaching up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness (10,000 nits for HDR content). Both models have also received TÜV Rheinland Quadruple Eye Care certification under POCO’s new Xiaomi Vision Care system.
POCO has extended its partnership with Bose for the F9 series’ audio tuning. The F9 Ultra uses dual 1115D stereo speakers with a 1620 independent subwoofer for a 2.1-channel setup, while the F9 Pro uses dual 1115F stereo speakers with a Sealed Cavity Design. Two sound profiles – “Dynamic” and “Balanced” – are available on both models, alongside a new Game Audio mode intended to make footsteps and directional cues easier to identify during gameplay.
On battery life, the F9 Ultra houses an 8,050mAh battery with 16% silicon-carbon content, which POCO says supports around two days of use. The F9 Pro, meanwhile, carries a 6,330mAh battery. Both support 100W wired and 50W wireless HyperCharge, along with 27W wired and 22.5W wireless reverse charging. Imaging on both models is built around a 200MP main camera with OIS, paired with a 32MP front camera. The F9 Ultra adds a 5x periscope telephoto lens, while the F9 Pro uses a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto lens capable of macro focus from 10cm.
POCO X8
The POCO X8 is built around an 8,340mAh battery – 63.2% larger than its predecessor, according to POCO – using silicon-carbon battery with 13% silicon content. The company says the battery supports over two days of use per charge and retains at least 80% capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, equivalent to roughly six years of regular use. The device has received TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification. Charging is handled via 67W wired HyperCharge, with 22.5W wired reverse charging also supported.
The X8 features a 6.83-inch 1.5K (1280 x 2772) AMOLED display with up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness across 25% of the screen, along with TÜV Rheinland eye-care certification. The phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K water and dust resistance ratings, and introduces POCO’s first Underwater Mode for capturing footage in water. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, rated to withstand drops of up to 3 meters.
Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset on a 4nm process with an integrated Adreno 710 GPU, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage. The camera system includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS and EIS accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide sensor, plus a 16MP front camera.

The POCO F9 Series is now available in Malaysia via mi.com and POCO’s official stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop. The POCO F9 Ultra (Dark Cherry, Black) is priced at RM3,599 for the 12+256GB variant, RM3,999 for 16+512GB, and RM4,799 for 16GB+1TB. The POCO F9 Pro (Aurora Green, White, Black) is priced at RM3,299 for 12+256GB and RM3,499 for 12+512GB.
The POCO X8 (White, Black, Orange) is available from 9 September 2026 onwards, priced at RM1,499 for the 8+256GB variant and RM1,699 for 12+256GB variant.
