It’s been more than a week since its reveal, but realme has finally launched the realme 16 Pro Harry Potter Edition in Malaysia – being the first Harry Potter-themed smartphone out there, the Chinese smartphone maker touts its Quadra Light-Sensing Color-changing Technology that is applied to a Hogwarts crest design on the back of the phone.

The phone has a brown finish with an argyle leather texture, which realme says is inspired by the Wizard’s Chess scene from the films. It also features a camera module design based on Hedwig, and a “Welcome to Hogwarts” slogan laser-engraved on the metal mid-frame. At the center of the back panel, four Hogwarts house crests use the aforementioned color-changing tech which showcases four distinct house colors under sunlight, meant to reference the “Sorting Ceremony” from the books and films. The phone also has a custom UI with Hogwarts-themed wallpapers, app icons, animations and GT mode visuals.
The device ships in a limited-edition box designed as a replica of Harry Potter’s trunk, of which, the contents include a Hogwarts acceptance letter replica, a Platform 9¾ train ticket replica, bookmarks featuring the four house crests, character postcards, a phone case with an embossed Hogwarts logo, and a phone pin. Reminder, only 5,000 units of the realme 16 Pro Harry Potter Edition is available globally from 21 September onwards, each priced at RM2,699.
Alongside the phone, realme also introduced the realme Buds T500 Pro Harry Potter Edition, which comes in a brown colorway with a charging case styled as a miniature version of Harry Potter’s trunk, along with a knitted cross-body strap. It is priced at RM399. Both are sold through official realme brand stores, authorized dealers, and official Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop channels.
To mark the launch, realme is holding a pop-up event called “Welcome to Hogwarts” at Blue Concourse, Sunway Pyramid, from 21 to 27 September – visitors who buy the phone at the event receive gifts valued at more than RM1,200, along with a chance to win a motorbike, and can access trade-in offers with extended warranty. The venue is designed to resemble Hogwarts’ Great Hall and the four house common rooms, and includes house-themed challenge games and a photo area where visitors can try on a virtual Sorting Hat or create a Daily Wizard cover using the phone’s portrait features.
