Xiaomi announced the launch of three new smartphones under its budget-focused REDMI sub-brand, which includes REDMI 17, REDMI 17 5G, and REDMI A7.
REDMI 17 Series
Both 4G and 5G variants of the REDMI 17 features a 7,500mAh battery with 45W fast charging support (and 22.5W reverse wired charging), a 6.9-inch HD+ (1600 x 720) display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50MP rear camera with auxiliary lens, plus IP64 dust and water resistance. There’s also a notification ring light located within the rear camera bump, which supports eight color modes.
The difference comes down to chipsets and storage: the 4G variant packs MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra with eMMC 5.1 storage, while the 5G variant features Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and UFS 2.2 storage instead. Pricing-wise, the 4G model is available in 4GB+128GB priced at RM699; as for the 5G model, it is available in 4GB+128GB priced at RM799, as well as a second 4GB+256GB variant priced at RM899.
REDMI A7
Xiaomi also introduced the REDMI A7, an entry-level smartphone featuring a 6.88-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5,200mAh battery, and a Unisoc T7250 octa-core chipset. The device includes a 13MP camera and Wet Touch Technology, which allows touchscreen operation with wet hands, and is available in multiple color options. The REDMI A7, available in 3GB+64GB at RM469, will go on sale starting 15 September.
