Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Unboxing and First Impressions
We got our hands on the new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra but before we publish the review, have a taste of it with our unboxing and first impressions.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Unboxing
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with practically the same packaging as its predecessor last year. If anything, the difference is only in the picture of the device, where the S Pen can be seen in the illustration this time around. If you’re expecting any added accessories this time around, that is not the case unfortunately as inside the box, we found the following items:
- USB-C to USB-C cable
- SIM ejector pin
- Documentations
- The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra itself
First Impressions
For our review unit, we received the Titanium Gray color option, which does look great but personally, Titanium Violet and Titanium Yellow are by far the best looking ones. While you also have Titanium Black as a standard option, do keep in mind that there are three online-exclusive colors to consider as well; Titanium Blue, Titanium Green, and Titanium Orange.
As the name implies, one of the big changes this year is the Titanium body, giving it a more lightweight yet still rigid body. The rear still retains a matte finish, which is great as it means not having fingerprint smudges populating the rear. The camera bump is still prominent, just as much as last year even, so if you’re looking a protective case, best to consider one with added protection for the cameras to prevent any form of damage on any of the lenses. I still miss the old contour cut camera housing but at this point, it appears to be gone permanently.
Flip the S24 Ultra over and you will see its glorious 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz as well as punchhole camera cutout. The two biggest changes here are the use of Gorilla Glass Armor, which is four times more resistant to micro-scratches and everyday wear than mineral glass, and that we get a flat display instead of a curved one. I’ve personally gotten tired of curved displays, especially since it’s harder to find accessories like screen protectors and I occasionally slide off the edges by accident, so the move back to a flat one feels great and surprisingly refreshing.
As usual, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra gets the latest Qualcomm flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, specifically fine-tuned for Samsung’s devices but the biggest feature this year for the entire S24 lineup is Galaxy AI. There is simply too much to cover on that in a first impressions alone but based on initial testing, it’s very handy to have but, like with most AI-based applications, would require some data and time to make it work as perfectly as possible. For now, check out its specifications right below here:
