We’re mere days from the debut of what is widely presumed to be Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold8 series via the Galaxy Unpacked event next Wednesday, and the company is teasing a new tech called “Flex Titanium” which likely gets featured in the new models, with improved durability and reduced crease visibility as its main features.
Flex Titanium Aims To Further Reduces Display Crease

What eventually became Flex Titanium required a balance of shock resistance, flexibility, and thinness, and Samsung’s engineers landed on titanium as the answer. This material is known for its strong yet lightweight properties, which is why it is commonly found in things like satellites; while titanium’s strength makes it durable, its stiffness presents engineering challenges when applied to thin, flexible display structures.
Samsung’s solution starts with titanium-alloy film that supports the display from below the OLED panel, providing 20x greater mechanical stiffness compared to polymer film, while a precision rolling process reduces its thickness to roughly one-third that of an average human hair. Beneath this sits a titanium plate that supports the display module, using hole processing technology to eliminate air gaps between the module and adhesive layer, providing support when the device is unfolded while retaining flexibility for repeated folding.
Meanwhile, the OLED display itself incorporates a “high-resolution architecture” and “next-generation organic materials,” which Samsung said improves display resolution while reducing power consumption. That should help with the foldable device’s battery life, given their inherent limitation of battery capacity as physical space is more constrained than that of a traditional form factor.
Flex Titanium technology will debut with Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy foldable devices, with further details to be unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked at 9PM MYT in 22 July 2026.
