Rockstar Games recently announced that its Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay trailer, titled “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look”, will premiere on Netflix on 27 August at 3PM Eastern Time (28 August, 3AM Malaysian Time). You literally are going to pay for a Netflix subscription just to watch what is effectively a glorified advertisement. Wild times.
Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer In Netflix?
Now, if you’re patient enough, you will be “rewarded” accordingly – wait another 6 hours (which would be 9AM here) and the same trailer will be available on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website, free of charge. We suspect the FOMO effect alone will be generating quite a few first-time or returning sign-ups for the streaming giant, though.
In Netflix’s VP of Nonfiction Series Brandon Riegg’s words, “we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with [Netflix] to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first.” Hard to say collaborations like this is going to be well-received, as BMW’s attempt at marketing tie-ins wasn’t exactly seen as a popular move among its vehicle owners.
Rockstar hasn’t said anything beyond the date, time and place of the upcoming reveal, though the title seems to suggest it’ll at least be several minutes’ worth of content to be extensively dissected by gaming community in the subsequent weeks, as they wait for the title’s eventual release in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles on 19 November 2026. No word has been given on the PC release at the time of this writing.

Remember, the game starts at $80 / RM339 for the Standard Edition, or $100 / RM419 for the Ultimate Edition which unlocks specific customization content for the game’s single-player campaign. No multiplayer features will be offered, though this is likely to be a separate offering from Rockstar at some point.
Pokdepinion: An announcement of an announcement – marketing department must’ve been working overtime to stretch their KPIs here.
