PlayStation Patent Hints at PS1, PS2, and PS3 Backwards Compatibility

New rumours have surfaced on the PlayStation Spartacus game subscription service, which shows some key differences with Xbox Game Pass. Here’s what we know thus far.

Recently, a report on Bloomberg revealed that the PlayStation Spartacus subscription service might go live very soon. As a result, more and more details about the service have revealed itself, though it remains to be unconfirmed. Regardless, if there is any truth to it, it does show a few interesting differences with Xbox Game Pass.

For starters, it’s said that major first-party games will not be coming to the service from the first day of its launch. In comparison, the Xbox Game Pass promises access to all first-party exclusives from day, which is a great attraction factor.

Apart from that, PlayStation Spartacus is said to have multiple tiers, each with their own set of perks. From what we know thus far, the highest tier will include support to stream games as well. We can expect 3 tiers for now, which is more than the Xbox Game Pass’s 2 tiers for the regular and Ultimate plans.

Lastly, it’s being rumoured that PlayStation Spartacus will be pricier, with the highest tier going for around USD $16 (RM67.37) per month. Of course, the lower tiers could still be more affordable than its competition but for now, this is what we’re looking at. Do take these with a grain of salt. We will report more on this as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.

Pokdepinion: Being more expensive isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It boils down to whether the price is actually worth it or not, as they might offer more to improve its value proposition. We will just have to wait and find out.
