Xiaomi has introduced their mid-range Redmi 7 and Redmi Note 7 here in Malaysia, but they have yet to bring in their latest flagship. The Mi 9 is highly anticipated as one of the more affordable flagships in 2019, but Mi Malaysia has been surprisingly quiet about it. In fact, the Mi 9’s price was revealed by a local reseller rather than Mi Malaysia themselves.

The Xiaomi Mi 9’s official Malaysian price was revealed by DirectD earlier today. Priced at RM1999, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is one of the most affordable flagships to be introduced in Malaysia since the start of 2019. I think everyone knows the Xiaomi Mi 9’s specifications, but if you don’t, check them out below:

Xiaomi Mi 9 Specifications

  • Snapdragon 855, octa-core up to 2.84 GHz, 7nm
  • Adreno 640 GPU
  • 6GB LPDDR4x RAM
  • 128GB UFS 2.1 storage
  • 6.39″ FHD+ AMOLED display, dewdrop notch
  • 48MP f/1.75 + 16MP f/2.2 wide-angle + 12MP f/2.2 telephoto
  • 20MP f/2.0 selfie camera
  • MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie
  • 3300 mAh battery, 27W Charge Turbo, 20W Wireless Charging
  • RM1999

The Malaysian price for the Xiaomi Mi 9 isn’t really that far from the Chinese launch pricing, which is good for us. However I do wish that Mi Malaysia has plans to bring in the Lavender Violet color option, as the Mi 9 will only be available in Piano Black and Ocean Blue during this pre-order.

If you are interested to pick up the Xiaomi Mi 9 from DirectD, all you need to reserve a unit for yourself is a RM200 deposit. The Xiaomi Mi 9 is expected to arrive in Malaysia sometime in April, but the exact date has not been revealed… yet.

Pokdepinion: RM1999… Maybe I will wait for the POCOPHONE F2.
