AMD Confirms New GPUs For Upcoming Gamescom Event

AMD’s Scott Herkelman (Senior VP & GM at Graphics Business Unit) has confirmed that Team Red will be announcing new products at the upcoming Gamescom event held in Cologne, Germany. The event is expected to unveil new RDNA3-powered models to fill the gap between the flagship RX 7900 series and the mid-range RX 7600 series GPUs.

While Herkelman did not explicitly mention the model names, the tweet does mention “major product announcements” which should indicate both the RX 7800 and 7700 series are on the way. It’s worth noting that AMD officially confirmed that “enthusiast” GPUs are coming this quarter; and one of AMD’s AIB partners, PowerColor, has accidentally leaked one of the RX 780o XT card.

The event is set to go live at 17:00 local time (23:00 Malaysian time), with Herkelman himself and Frank Azor, Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Gaming Marketing at AMD, on the stage accompanied by various streamers and creators.

Another thing to note is the delayed release of HYPR-RX and FSR3 technology that went largely silent since their announcement back in last year’s Radeon GPU keynote. The company is still yet to provide a proper response to NVIDIA’s DLSS3 frame-generation tech, so it’ll be one of the key things to watch for the upcoming event.
