ASUS’s New RTX 4080 SUPER Is Getting The Noctua Fan Treatment Too

ASUS's New RTX 4080 SUPER Is Getting The Noctua Fan Treatment Too

Remember the ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition? Both teams are back once again, this time with the new release of the RTX 4080 SUPER getting the same dual Noctua fan treatment. This makes the fourth GPU entry to the collaboration between the two companies, following the RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and the aforementioned RTX 4080.

Like the silicon that sees minimal changes, the Noctua still has the unapologetically brown colorway that people have come to either love or hate, though there are some minor cosmetic changes made on the outside – for example, the GPU shroud is now black, instead of the dark brown shade from the RTX 4080 model.

One of the defining qualities of Noctua fans is the sheer quietness of it, and it really shows in this GPU. ASUS claims the card will only produce 27dB under full load with a pair of 120mm NF-A12x25 fans (same as the RTX 4080 Noctua), and your room’s background noise most likely is noisy enough to drown this out without you noticing the fans are spinning. There’s a small (or rather, sizeable) tradeoff, though: the GPU is insanely thick with 4.3 slots occupied, so make sure your case and motherboard allow a GPU of this size.

As for the RTX 4080 SUPER silicon itself, there is some factory overclock applied to it, with a 2640MHz boost clock via Performance BIOS mode (+90MHz over stock), though it’ll be set to Quiet BIOS by default – because people who bought this GPU most likely wants a dead-silent GPU in the first place.

ASUS hasn’t announced pricing on this GPU, but expect it to be costlier than the usual lineup of RTX 4080 SUPERs out there. For reference, the FE card costs $999, so expect retail pricing in the four-figure as far as USD currency is concerned.

Pokdepinion: I’m still in awe of the sheer thickness of this GPU today.
