TNG eWallet has launched an overseas ride-hailing feature, making it the first Malaysian eWallet to allow users to book and pay for rides abroad directly within the app, courtesy of Alipay+ payment framework. The feature works with a range of international ride-hailing providers, covering more than 47 regions and over 12,000 cities.

Rides booked through the feature are paid in Ringgit using the user’s existing TNG eWallet balance, removing the need to handle foreign currency upon arrival. Fares are displayed upfront before a booking is confirmed, and trip details along with transaction records are stored within the app. The supported regions include popular travel destinations for Malaysians, such as Japan, South Korea, and China, as well as selected markets in North America and the European Union. Below are the providers for their respective regions:

TNG Digital CEO Alan Ni noted that the feature addresses one of the first practical challenges travelers face upon landing: getting around without having to set up another app or payment method. Around 35% of TNG eWallet users have already used at least one travel-related service within the app, underscoring the demand for expanded travel utilities.

The overseas ride-hailing launch builds on an existing collaboration between TNG Digital and Alipay+, the unified wallet gateway operated by Ant International. The partnership covers global payments, digital engagement, travel innovations, and AI-powered services.
