CelcomDigi has launched the Advanced Intelligent Warehouse in Shah Alam as Malaysia’s first industrial business-to-business live use case powered by a 5G Standalone (5G-SA) network. The facility officially opened on 9 June 2026, with the Minister of Communications Dato’ Fahmi Fadzil presiding over the launch.
The new site demonstrates how 5G-SA connectivity, AI, robotics, and automation can work together to transform warehouse and supply chain operations at scale. There’s numbers to back it up, for which CelcomDigi’s claims include: space utilization improved by 30%, operational efficiency increased by more than 50%, and inventory precision reached up to 100%.
Inside CelcomDigi-Powered Advanced Intelligent Warehouse
The facility integrates six intelligent logistics solutions, all running on CelcomDigi’s high-speed, low-latency 5G-SA network. Each system addresses a specific operational challenge in modern warehousing. They include:
- Warehouse Management System (WMS): Provides a centralized platform for inventory management, delivering real-time visibility across warehouse operations and enabling more efficient inventory control.
- Autonomous Pallet Shuttle System: Automates pallet storage and retrieval processes, maximizing storage density and optimizing warehouse space utilization.
- 5G-powered Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs): Autonomously transport goods with precision and reliability while reducing manual handling requirements.
- AI-powered Visual Surveillance System: Strengthens workplace safety and operational oversight by detecting safety violations, unauthorized access, collision risks and other incidents in real time.
- AI Autonomous Drone System: Enhances inventory management by automating stock-taking and cycle counting processes, enabling faster inventory verification with higher accuracy.
- Digital Nebula Platform: A digital twin solution that provides a real-time operational view of the warehouse, enabling predictive insights, workflow optimization and faster decision-making through data-driven intelligence.
The project was developed in collaboration with five other companies, namely Move Robotics, Infinium Robotics, Ailytics, Cobra Security Electronics, and ZTE. The initiative also received a grant under the Bengkel Inovasi GLC (BIG) program, a joint effort led by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and Cradle Fund. Beyond serving as a live showcase, the facility is intended to function as an ongoing innovation lab where enterprises can experience, evaluate, and develop practical 5G and AI applications for their own operations.
Following the launch, CelcomDigi is hosting a two-day industry engagement program called Logistics Redefined, running from 10 to 11 June 2026 at Hap Seng Business Park in Shah Alam. The event is set to feature guided walkthroughs and live demonstrations of the 5G and AI-enabled warehouse operations for warehousing and logistics players.
