Microsoft’s Phone Link app has a bit of history, dating back to its predecessor Your Phone app back in Windows 10 days. However, both versions only supports Android devices at the time, and finally that’s about to change – as iOS users can get Phone Link support for their Windows devices too.

The iOS version will have slightly different feature support than its Android counterparts – namely, the messaging feature on iOS version will be limited, likely due to technical limitations. You won’t be able to share images or videos, and group messaging is not available. As for the messaging itself, it is “session based” and will only appear when the phone is maintaining an active connection to the Windows PC. The app is also strictly iOS-only (with iOS 14 and up required), no iPadOS support here.

On the contrary, the iCloud integration can directly let users view photos from the Photos app, unlike the Android counterpart which remained under the ‘Photos’ section of the Phone Link app instead. The call feature gets “basic iOS support”, so temper your expectations there. Microsoft says the update should roll out in the next few weeks – simply open the app to check if iOS support is available (with the “iPhone” button as pictured above).
