Yinson GreenTech, Weststar Maxus, and SAIC Maxus signed a strategic collaboration agreement at the KLIMS 2026 to introduce 300 Maxus eDeliver 5 electric commercial vans into the Malaysian market.
The agreement was signed by Kelvin Soon (Managing Director of EV Charging and Leasing, Yinson GreenTech), Julius Jonathan (COO, Weststar Maxus), and Zhao Aimin (Vice-President, SAIC Commercial China). The signing was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, along with senior representatives from Weststar Group, Yinson, Weststar Maxus, SAIC Maxus China, and Yinson GreenTech.
Yinson GreenTech & Weststar Maxus Sign New Deal
With the addition of 300 Maxus eDeliver 5 units, Yinson GreenTech’s total EV fleet is expected to reach approximately 1,000 vehicles by end of 2026. The vehicles will be deployed through Yinson GreenTech’s drivEV business, which bundles EV leasing, charging infrastructure, and digital fleet management into a single platform targeting logistics and transport operators.
The collaboration is directed at the commercial vehicle segment, where EV adoption has been slower relative to the passenger vehicle market. Yinson GreenTech’s leasing model is positioned to reduce the upfront cost barrier for fleet operators seeking to transition to electric vehicles for last-mile delivery and logistics operations. Weststar Maxus is the authorized distributor of Maxus vehicles in Malaysia, which offers a broad lineup including the Maxus eDeliver series, the MIFA passenger range, and electrified pickup trucks for the local markets.
Besides the signing ceremony, Maxus also showcased several new models in KLIMS 2026, including the Maxus T60 pickup truck with a 2.0L turbodiesel engine producing 161hp and 375Nm, as well as Maxus Terron 9 pickup truck with 2.5L turbodiesel with more low-end grunt offering 520Nm of torque for towing and heavy off-road duties. This model also gets an EV spinoff called eTerron 9, which features 102.2kWh battery providing power to its dual-motor AWD drivetrain for up to 430km of WLTP range.
Pokdepinion: Buying 300 electric vans and signing the deal in front of two government ministers at a major motor show is a solid flex, but the real test is whether these vans are actually on the road and charging reliably six months from now.
