Acer has just announced a new model in the Swift family: the Swift Edge 16. This AMD-powered laptop will feature the chipmaker’s latest Ryzen 7040 series processors, with Radeon 780M iGPU and dedicated Ryzen AI hardware on select configurations.

The laptop itself features a 16-inch, 3.2K OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut; it’s also compatible with the upcoming Wi-Fi 7 standard which promises ever greater transfer speeds and wireless reliability. The Microsoft Pluton security co-processor is also featured which helps with on-device security. The chassis is comprised of magnesium alloy which helps reduces the weight down to just 1.23kg and measures at just 12.95mm thin.

Other specs include up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and PCIe 4.0 SSD configurable up to 2TB, QHD webcam with automatic framing and gaze correction as well as background blur. I/O options include two USB-A ports, two USB-C (USB4) ports with 65W Power Delivery and display output capabilities, HDMI 2.1 and a microSD card reader. Set for a July launch – no local pricing is available at the time of this writing (though it’ll cost $1,299 in US).

Pokdepinion: It’s still gonna be a while before Ryzen 7040 arrives in laptops. We’ll just have to keep waiting in the meantime.
