Last year at IFA 2023, HONOR showcased the V Purse that functions as half foldable smartphone, half fashion statement; this year, the Chinese smartphone maker returning to the event with the announcement of Magic V3 series, set to be revealed on 5 September 2024.

HONOR’s Magic V2 foldable has garnered a fair bit attention thanks to its extremely thin chassis that managed to equal the thickness of a regular candybar form factor smartphone; according to the company, Magic V3 will be pushing the limits even further.

The new foldable measures just 9.2mm thick, shaving another 0.7mm from its predecessor. When opened, each half only measures 4.35mm thick (not counting the camera bump, of course). Weight is quoted as 226 grams, which is 11g or 5g (depending on variants) lighter than the predecessor.

This has been the direction of development HONOR has undertaken since the Magic V2 series, which gives it the leg up against the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series that largely focuses on the software and ecosystem above all else. HONOR has already unveiled the Magic V3 in China, though there might be some minor spec differences for the units destined for global markets.

If you want to witness the launch live, you can join the livestream on HONOR Malaysia’s Facebook page as the event kicks off at 8PM Malaysia Time.
