The OPPO Reno16 series is coming to Malaysia on 8 July 2026, with a preview of two key feature areas: a holographic back cover design exclusive to the Pop White colorway, as well as an updated camera system. Pre-orders are now open ahead of the launch.
Sneak Peek Of OPPO Reno16 Series’ Features
The Pop White variant of the Reno16 Series features what OPPO calls the “3D Pop Planet” Design, which uses the company’s HoloVerse 3D technology to produce a 3D effect on the back cover visible through naked eye – as the device moves, an image of a planet appears to float approximately 15mm above the back cover surface. Specifically, HoloVerse 3D technology is based on Integral Imaging optical principle, where the back cover features an array of microlenses to produce the effect.
OPPO distinguishes this approach from conventional holographic technology found in banknote security stripes, where a single microlens corresponds to a single repeating graphic; every HoloVerse microlens corresponds to a distinct micro-pattern, enabling a coherent 3D image rather than a repeated pattern. The company says achieving the 15mm perceived floating depth required “extensive optimizations across the optical modeling, suspension height, line widths and structural parameters.”
The OPPO Reno16 Series also includes a 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera with 100-degree FOV, along with a new camera mode called “Pop Cam”. In this mode, users get nine filters based on analog photography styles including Instant Film, Digicam, and Light Leak, each available in motion photo format. For low-light performance, the smartphones feature “Dual 2020 Flash” system with three adjustable illumination levels to maintain accurate skin tones on the subject.
While not formally launched yet, the specs are already publicized – we’re looking at Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 powering the base model, whereas the Pro model likely gets MediaTek Dimensity 8550 Super chipset. The cheaper Reno16 F gets MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset instead. Rear cameras vary slightly, with Pro featuring one 200MP main and two 50MP secondary sensors, the vanilla Reno16 getting all three 50MP sensors, whereas the F variant has two 50MP sensors, plus one 8MP sensor for ultrawide.
The OPPO Reno16 Series launches in Malaysia on 8 July 2026. Pre-orders placed before launch are eligible for exclusive offers valued at up to RM1,198, including a Reno16 Series x BABYMONSTER Limited Edition Gift or the Reno16 Series Gift Box. Pricing has not yet been disclosed – expect that to be revealed next Wednesday.
