REDMAGIC Astra 2 is coming to Malaysia very soon – this 9.06-inch flagship gaming tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and the company’s dedicated RedCore R4 gaming chip, with a claimed industry-first liquid cooling system in a tablet (the brand already had some deep involvement in liquid-cooled smartphones before this).

The REDMAGIC Astra 2 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 alongside REDMAGIC’s RedCore R4 chip, which handles in-game visual effects, 2K resolution upscaling, and intelligent power management during intensive gameplay. while REDMAGIC’s Energy Cube 3.0 system dynamically allocates CPU, GPU, memory, cooling and touch resources based on real-time demands.
The display is a 2.4K OLED panel (2,400 x 1,504 pixels) with a 185Hz refresh rate, which REDMAGIC claims as the highest refresh rate offered on a tablet to date. It reaches up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness and 1,100 nits of global brightness, with a 90.1% screen-to-body ratio and 4.9mm bezels. Touch input is handled by a Synaptics S3930 chip, delivering a 300Hz average touch sampling rate and up to 2,000Hz instant touch sampling. Audio is handled by symmetrical dual 1227 stereo speakers, complemented by dual 0815 X-axis linear motors.
REDMAGIC also claims this model as the first tablet to feature liquid cooling through its AquaCore Cooling System 2.0. The system combines flowing liquid cooling channels, Liquid Metal 3.0 and a vapor chamber in a sealed, non-conductive and leak-resistant assembly rated for operation between -40°C and 70°C. The liquid flow channels and piezoelectric ceramic micropumps circulate fluorinated coolant to pull the heat away, and all of that is exposed through a transparent rear panel.
Battery capacity is 8,300mAh with support for 75W fast charging via the short-side USB-C port, reaching a full charge in approximately 60 minutes; a second long-side USB-C port supports up to 40W charging, and the dual USB-C setup also supports two-way reverse charging, as well as allowing for simultaneous audio output during charging. It carries an IP54 ingress protection rating and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and a customizable Magic Key onboard provides quick access to REDMAGIC’s GameSpace interface.
The REDMAGIC Astra 2 goes on sale in Malaysia on 8 September 2026 at 8:00pm via the Shopee REDMAGIC Official Store and official website, in Black Eclipse and Starfrost colorways; the 12GB+256GB variant is priced at RM3,599 and the 16GB+512GB variant at RM4,399 for both colors.
Pokdepinion: Given tablet’s surface area, you’d think liquid cooling is not warranted. It’s a novelty nonetheless.
