Assassin’s Creed Jade Likely Not Coming with Controller Support
Assassin’s Creed Jade was unveiled with a debut trailer during Level Infinite’s ‘Into the Infinite’ livestream. The unique aspect about Jade is that it marks the first-ever Assassin’s Creed game exclusively developed for mobile platforms, promising an immersive experience optimized for touch controls.
Assassin’s Creed Jade Controller Support?
During Gamescom 2023, we had the privilege of conversing with Andrei Chen, the executive director of Assassin’s Creed Jade, who shed light on various aspects of the game. Among the topics discussed was the potential addition of controller support, a feature that garnered significant interest from closed beta players.
While acknowledging the feasibility of integrating controller support – given the franchise’s history with native controller compatibility – Chen highlighted the team’s determination to craft a genuine Assassin’s Creed experience centered around touch controls.
It would be easy for us to add controller support, Assassin’s Creed games are native to controllers, so technically it would be easy. However, we wanted to overcome the challenge of creating an Assassin’s Creed game with touch controls.

The revelation suggests that while implementing controller support might be straightforward, it currently does not stand as a primary focus for the developers. Chen further revealed insights into Assassin’s Creed: Jade’s roadmap, expressing plans to continuously enrich the expansive open world. Additional regions, stories, and captivating landmarks will be introduced post-launch through regular updates occurring every three months, providing players with ongoing immersive experiences.
Responding to inquiries regarding potential limitations tied to mobile development, Chen shared that computational constraints have not compelled the team to make any significant compromises so far. However, he acknowledged that this landscape might evolve closer to launch, considering the ongoing refinement of core mechanics.
Set against the historical backdrop of 230 BC Ancient China during the emergence of the first Qin Empire, Assassin’s Creed Jade places players in the role of a proto-assassin, navigating an era before the establishment of the Assassin Brotherhood. As a mobile-exclusive venture, Assassin’s Creed Jade holds great promise, offering a distinctive take on the franchise’s legacy while catering to the dynamics of mobile gaming. Although a precise release date remains undisclosed, the anticipation for this intriguing addition to the Assassin’s Creed saga continues to build.
