Sony unveiled two new party speakers in Malaysia, adding the ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5 to its ULT POWER SOUND series. Developed with input from hip-hop producers, the devices feature redesigned circular woofers, expanded cabinet capacities, and dedicated bass ducting to boost low-frequency performance.

Here’s what differs between the two models: the larger ULT TOWER 7 delivers up to 420 watts of power output with 360-degree sound projection, while the smaller ULT TOWER 5 offers up to 300 watts of output. Both models feature automatic sound field optimization that adjusts the frequency balance based on room placement and background noise. (Above is the spec comparison between the models.)
They include four preset audio modes accessed via the physical ULT button: ULT1 for deep bass, ULT2 for higher sound pressure, FLAT for true-to-source audio, and LIVE for ambient sound reproduction. Users can also configure custom equalizer settings through the Sound Connect app. For onboard lighting, they offers three distinct modes: BEAT, WAVE, and MELLOW.
Both units include XLR, RCA, and USB-C inputs for music playback, DJ setups, and karaoke microphones (such as the optional ULTMIC1); connectivity options comprise stereo pairing and Auracast for linking multiple compatible speakers. The speakers feature an IPX4 splash-resistant rating and include integrated carry handles – the ULT TOWER 7 is equipped with wider transport wheels and offers up to 30 hours of battery life, while the ULT TOWER 5 provides up to 20 hours.
The Sony ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5 are available in Malaysia for a suggested retail price of RM2,999 and RM2,199 respectively.
Pokdepinion: Party speakers are pretty formulaic these days, so I’d wager the ULT features are the ones that’ll stand out.
