Overclocker Pushed RTX 4090 Past 3.8GHz In Unigine Superposition Benchmark

Such overclocks has been done before – albeit this is the first time it is achieved under a 3D-based run.

Overclocker CENS has posted a leaderboard-beating score on the Unigine Superposition (8K optimized) run claiming 1st place with 18701 points – which is done under LN2-cooled conditions with the Colorful RTX 4090 iGame LAB – designed for extreme overclocking like this one – pushed as high as 3.825GHz. For reference, a stock Founder’s Edition card will only reach 2.52GHz boost clock on normal conditions.

This clockspeed, while the highest recorded so far, has technically been achieved before courtesy of another overclocker: OGS from GALAX OC Lab team. That particular run, which was done in last November, was achieved with a run of GPUPI – a GPU-based Pi calculation tool that do not rely on the 3D compute blocks of the GPU.

CENS’s run is paired with Intel Core i9-13900K cooled under liquid nitrogen (LN2) with temperatures going as low as -192°C, while the GPU was said to pull a relatively reasonable 500-600 watts, according to the replies. It remains to be seen if higher clockspeeds can be achieved to cross the 4GHz barrier, as brands such as GALAX often have HOF models designed for the most extreme of extreme overclocks.

Pokdepinion: Considering that’s a whole lot more clockspeed with what looks like at most 25% more power, that’s impressive.
