Kingston Maintains Channel SSD Shipments Leadership 6 Years In A Row
Kingston Technology has secured its position as the number one third-party SSD supplier in the channel for 2022, maintaining leadership for six consecutive years. TrendForce data indicates that the company has captured a significant 28% share of the 114 million units shipped in 2022.
Challenges in the global SSD market, including supply and demand dynamics and IC shortages, has resulted a 10.7% decline in global SSD shipments, with 114 million units shipped. Despite the downturn, Kingston managed to increase its share of the market in 2022, with the top five third-party suppliers collectively accounting for nearly 60% of total shipments.
The market’s demand for PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs continued to shape trends, leading module makers to transition steadily from SATA to PCIe. TrendForce anticipates that NVMe upgrades will enhance brand recognition and contribute to increased shipments. Kingston responded to market trends by expanding its product range, introducing the NV2 client NVMe drive in 2022, quickly becoming the top-selling drive in Kingston’s lineup, with over 12 million units sold globally.
