Shopee Removing The Ability To Choose Couriers Beginning 17 June
Reports are saying that Shopee Malaysia is looking to remove the ability for customers to choose their preferred courier options soon. According to a report from Amanz, the popular shopping platform will implement these changes starting from 17 June this year.
No more courier options with Shopee
The changes will see Shopee automatically choose which courier would the best choice to handle specific deliveries. In addition, it will also be based on the settings of a vendor store on the platform. Shopee says that this method will help merchants in optimising their delivery and reducing the chances of late shipments. Furthermore, the platform says that this change will also see lower delivery rates across all channels with fees as low as RM2 with Shopee Express.
As you can see from the screenshot above, customers will only be able to choose between three options which include “Standard Delivery”, “Economy Delivery” and “Others”. Seven different couriers are currently selected to handle the “Standard Delivery” option. These couriers include PosLaju, DHL, J&T Express, Ninja Van, City Link, TheLorry.com, as well as the in-house Shopee Express service. The “Economy Delivery” will be shipping by sea while “Others” will be for other logistic providers.
This new implementation will also a slight change with the platform’s delivery options menu. Gone are the usual courier options in place of the three new delivery options mentioned above.
Pokdepinion: I’m not sure if I’m totally okay with this change. I understand why they do it but I also understand how this can rub people the wrong way. I, myself prefer to choose my couriers at times.
