As part of AI Untuk Rakyat initiative by Ministry of Digital, YTL AI Labs announced Malaysians aged 18-30 will be able to claim free access to 3 months of ILMUchat Pro subscription via Rakyat Digital, starting on Merdeka Day. Eligible Malaysians must complete the required AI training modules on Rakyat Digital to claim the offer (priced at RM50/month).
ILMUchat Pro To All Young Malaysians
The program was first announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in July at the launch of AI Malaysia in Cyberjaya, alongside the National AI Action Plan 2026-2030, and forms part of a wider government push to build AI literacy across the country. AI Untuk Rakyat is targeting 100,000 participants within the 18-30 age group. Participants who complete the required learning modules and opt for ILMUchat will have their eligibility verified through MyDigital ID, which allows eligible users to access their free ILMUchat Pro subscription without additional verification steps.
While ILMUchat is fundamentally the same as other Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and others, it is designed around how Malaysians typically communicate, including switching between Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese and Manglish within the same conversation. As such, it also wields better capabilities in understanding subjects under local contexts. The Pro tier offers higher usage limits, along with unlimited use of image generation, coding, and file upload features.
To claim the three-month subscription, eligible Malaysians need to log in to Rakyat Digital at rakyatdigital.gov.my, complete the required training courses, then select ILMUchat Pro from their dashboard. Users are then redirected to the ILMUchat login page, where logging in with MyDigital ID activates the three months of free access.
