Epson has launched the AX6 Collaborative Robot (Cobot) in Southeast Asia, marking the company’s first entry into the collaborative robotics space. The cobot is designed for deployment in cleanroom environments and space-constrained facilities, targeting industries including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, logistics, automotive, and electronics manufacturing. It is now available for purchase in Malaysia.
Epson AX6 Cobot: Key Features
The AX6 features a lightweight carbon-body arm manipulator weighing just 17 kg, making it the lightest cobot in its class. Its compact form factor allows deployment in environments where space is limited, without requiring significant changes to existing infrastructure or facility layouts. It works on both AC and DC power supplies, enabling flexible installation across different facility configurations. It is also compatible with autonomous mobile robot (AMR) and automated guided vehicle (AGV) applications.

For cleanroom compliance, the AX6 comes with an ISO Class 5 cleanroom classification and IP54 dust and splash protection as standard. Its screwless surface and internal wiring and tubing design minimize contamination risks, making it suitable for environments where hygiene standards are critical. Built-in collaborative safety functions allow the AX6 to operate safely alongside human personnel, which include Power and Force Limiting (PFL), Safe Operating Stop (SOS), Safe Limited Speed (SLS), and Safe Limited Position (SLP).
The AX6 supports hand-guided teaching, allowing operators to train the robot by physically setting points and defining workflows without requiring deep technical expertise. Easy block programming is also available for entry-level users who need to create basic automation workflows. For more advanced use cases, the AX6 is compatible with Python and the Robot Operating System (ROS). Overall, this helps to reduce the barrier to entry for organizations looking to adopt automation for the first time.
Pokdepinion: Epson making robots now? That’s pretty wild.
