Alienware Teases New 18-inch Gaming Laptop

It wasn’t too long ago that someone spotted what it seemed to be an 18-inch Razer Blade put through its paces on Geekbench. That was a leak all things considered – but Alienware has come first and is officially teasing the revival of 18-inch class gaming laptops.

The big ’18’ wordmark is shown in the clip with the preceding text “When Something This Big and Powerful Arrives” – one thing we can all agree is this will be a laptop measuring 18 inches. We don’t know if this will be still using 16:9 displays, or rather, extending existing 17-inch display with 16:10 aspect ratio to form a slightly different 18-inch chassis from the ones in years before.

The takeaway from the text seems to point at a rather supersized laptop – think multi-GPU, multiple drive arrays, dual power bricks, that kind of stuff. Of course, multi-GPU is effectively dead these days – so we’ll likely be just seeing full-fat RTX mobile graphics with 175W TDP at disposal instead (or MXM-based cards in extreme cases). This will coincide with Intel and AMD’s HX-series CPUs, designed for even more powerful, 55W TDP-class laptops that utilizes beefier cooling systems.

The clip ends with a simple “Coming Soon” – though do expect some form of announcements in the upcoming CES event. In any case, expect this laptop to be the new flagship from Dell’s gaming sub-brand, and it will be a no-holds-barred gaming laptop for those who needs it.
