HoYoverse has announced that Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4 “For the Sun is Set to Die” will be released on 2 July 2025. The update will introduce new main story content, three new playable characters – Phainon, Saber, and Archer – and a special collaboration event with Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works], along with gameplay updates and feature enhancements.

Version 3.4 continues the narrative in Amphoreus, where the Trailblazer and Phainon work to return the final Coreflame to the Vortex of Genesis, revealing deeper truths about the world and setting the stage for the Era Nova. Phainon becomes a playable character in this version, using the accumulation of Coreflames to transform and enter a powerful combat state that alters battle dynamics.
On 11 July, a collaboration event “Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War” will begin in Penacony, featuring characters from Fate/stay night. Participants, including the Trailblazer and other familiar figures, will summon historical figures as Servants in a new battle format. Saber and Archer will be introduced as limited 5-star playable characters during this event. Saber is a Wind-type character following the Path of Destruction, while Archer is a Quantum-type following the Path of the Hunt, and will be available as a free login reward for a limited time.
Additional returning characters include Tribbie, Sunday, Sparkle, Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade, with Silver Wolf, Kafka, and others receiving enhancements to combat performance and Eidolon effects. Version 3.4 will also include new customization options such as Firefly’s “Spring Missive” outfit, gameplay quality-of-life updates including a new “skip dialogue” function, and the return of the “Origami Bird” minigame.
