Samsung Unveils the Exynos 2100 With Notable Improvements Across the Board

Plenty of rumours have surfaced on the Exynos 2100, with many of them claiming that it can beat the Snapdragon 888. While we can’t say for sure yet, Samsung has officially unveiled the 5nm SoC that will be powering their upcoming flagships, with notable improvements across the board.

Samsung has officially unveiled the 5nm Exynos 2100 SoC that will be powering their upcoming flagship smartphones. The earliest we’ll get to see this in action will be in the Samsung Galaxy S21 series that is expected to be announced on 14th January 2021.

As seen in the video, the Exynos 2100 is fabricated using a 5nm lithography process and uses a tri-cluster CPU architecture. To be precise, it has a custom ARM Cortex-X1 core, 3 Cortex-A78 cores, 4 Cortex-A55 cores, and the ARM Mali G-78 GPU.

That might be too technical for most of you but Samsung simplified it by stating that it will provide 30% better CPU performance, 40% better GPU performance, and 3 times the NPU performance for image recognition. Apart from that, the Advanced Multi-IP Governor, referred to as AMIGO, controls boost performance. It is said to optimize on efficiency in this regard as it will only boost performance for apps that require it and nothing more, resulting in a more energy-efficient device.

It’s worth noting that Samsung is working with AMD for a next gen mobile GPU with performance unlike anything we’ve seen before. It was stated that it will be coming in a flagship product, but no word yet on which device exactly. There are other parts of the Exynos 2100 that play a major role such as the DSP and ISP, but we’ll have to wait until we get a device using this SoC to find out.

Pokdepinion: I’m actually excited to see how much of an improvement in performance and efficiency this new SoC can provide. I’m going to find out sooner or later myself, and I can’t wait.
